IES Ghana Sends Charlia Kweh and 11 Other Students to Canada for Prestigious Global Summer Camp

Empowering the Next Generation Through Global Experiences

The Institute of Executive Studies (IES), Ghana, has once again demonstrated its commitment to nurturing future global leaders by facilitating the participation of 12 outstanding students in the Upper Canada College (UCC) Global Summer Camp 2025 in Toronto, Canada.

Among these bright young minds is Charlia Kweh, a Grade 8 student of Delhi Public School International (DPSI), who—along with her peers—embarked on this life-enriching journey on July 26, 2025 from Kotoka International Airport. They arrived in Toronto on Sunday, July 27, ready to engage in one of the most prestigious and culturally immersive summer camps in the world.

A Truly International Gathering

This summer camp brings together over 150 students from 14 countries, including the United States, Japan, China, South Korea, and Malaysia. Hosted at the scenic Upper Canada College, the camp promises an exciting blend of learning, leadership, and cross-cultural networking opportunities for students aged 8 to 16.

Located just 20 minutes from Toronto Pearson International Airport, UCC is nestled close to some of Toronto’s most iconic attractions such as CN Tower, Niagara Falls, and Ripley’s Aquarium—offering the perfect environment for learning and exploration.

What Makes the UCC Summer Camp Unique?

The camp offers a rich interdisciplinary curriculum focused on academic enrichment and personal development. Key areas of study and activities include:

  • Theatre Arts
  • English Language Development
  • Debate and Public Speaking

Spotlight on Charlia Kweh

Charlia, born in Ghana to Liberian parents on December 17, 2011, began her academic journey at Excel Community School, Spintex, Accra. She is known among her peers for her maturity, leadership potential, and a value system centered around solidarity, empathy, and responsibility.

Speaking to media at Kotoka International Airport prior to departure, Charlia expressed her hopes:

“I believe the UCC Summer Camp will help improve my public speaking skills, make me more confident, and connect me with students from all over the world. I want to represent Ghana and Liberia well and return home to share everything I learn with other children.”

Charlia’s optimism, curiosity, and gratitude serve as a beacon of the kind of youth IES Ghana aims to support—future leaders with a global mindset.

IES Ghana has spent over 13 years curating international educational programs. With hundreds of students benefiting from past camps in Canada, IES continues to be a leader in experiential education, helping Ghanaian youth broaden their worldview.

IES Ghana Summer Camp Structure

IES Summer Camps are designed for students between ages 8 and 16, categorized as follows:

  • Juniors (Ages 8–11):
    Focus on fun and exploration through arts, fitness, games, and creative projects.

  • Intermediates (Ages 12–13):
    Mix of academics and skills development including critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving.

  • Leadership (Ages 14–16):
    Tailored for teens ready to take on mentorship roles, with coaching in leadership, public speaking, and project planning.

Participants choose 3–4 specialty day camps over three weeks, ensuring personalized growth experiences.
